V9.18 May 10, 2000 ------------------- Many changes in CONTEST operation: ---------------------------------- 1. Support the Cabrillo file format (now required by ARRL and CQ for contest submission) as the primary operation for preparing contest results. The old format (ASCII text files and/or paper log type printouts and dupe sheets) is still supported. 2. Expanded the number of possible contest setups from 22 to 99. Set up most popular contests in the menu system, along with the Cabrillo formats for each. NOTE: If you have any contests that were present in prior versions of Log-EQF that are not supplied, please send me details so I can add them to the contest setups supplied in following versions. 3. Provided dedicated logbook field for SERIAL NUMBER sent in contests, instead of sharing the NAME field of the logbook file. 4. For most contests where the MULTIPLIER field is already a standard field in the Log-EQF logbook format, those exchanges are now inserted into the proper field for non-contest work. Supported MULTIPLIER fields are GRID, WPX, IOTA, STATE, TEN-TEN, and DXCC PREFIX. Other MULTIPLIER received exchanges are placed into the TRACK field. (Former contest logbook files had the MULTIPLIER placed into the CITY field). 5. Improved support for SWEEPSTAKES, by adding specific places in the SENT and RCVD report entries on the contest logging screen. A guide appears above these fields to help user know which part of exchange goes where. 6. Corrected NWT section to YT (Yukon Terrority) in multiplier table for ARRL sections (file SECTIONS.MLT). ALSO in Version 9.18: --------------------- Allow multiple QSOs per QSL label if using SEARCH. More work to fit longer modes onto smaller size QSL labels. On logging screen, hitting a function key now will bypass prior QSO lookup if cursor still on CALLSIGN. If you QSY now after using a cluster spot, you are not only returned to original frequency, but also any QSO information that was entered and not already stored will reappear. The callsign that spotted DX on the cluster is now displayed as part of the spot. Note that old spots will be deleted when this version is first started due to new spot file size. Improved recognition of QSL SENT codes when viewing QSOs in single-line format, so that an "X" now appears for most sent codes when a QSL is marked received. Removed support for the former AMSOFT CD. This callsign database is no longer available, so removed it to allow room for additional features. Fixed some county recognition problems in the COUNTY HUNTER award routine. Changes to PREFIX.LIB: - Removed YT5 from Z3, Macedonia. - Added FO0AAA to FO0, Clipperton. April 26, 2000: Changed time difference from UTC for A7 Qatar and A9 Bahrain from 3 hours to 4 hours. A later update to GOLIST donated by John Shelton, K1XN for Registered User evaluation. Please consider registering with John for his great GOLIST QSL Manager database. (Sorry, but this is for full release copies of Log-EQF only, not the PATCH, due to file size limitations). Automatically correct DXCC records to remove a callsign for a particular DXCC country, if QSO with that call is deleted from log, or if the country is changed for that callsign in the logbook. No longer necessary to find that callsign in your DXCC records and manually delete it. Added a new item on PREFERENCES menu, to choose if GRID SQUARES should be shown on print or view. This is in place of the former logic for GERATOL track field name. If new option is OFF, then the TRACK FIELD is always shown. Make sure MULTIPLIER window is redrawn after CW keyer is finished. When paging up and down on CLUSTER screen, put highlighted item on bottom for and top for . Also, key now just moves cursor to last item on current screen of spots, instead of ending the scrollback. Also add message to user to hit to end scrollback. When sending CW from logging screen using the auxiliary keypad, you can now abort a message by hitting <-> on the keypad (in addition to the key). Changed %U macro operation so that it uses the OPERATOR in current logbook entry instead of the one entered on the Log-EQF SETUP menu. Added a prompt on SEARCH AND REPLACE feature, to be sure user wants to replace wildcard fields with blanks. Fixed a long-time problem where under some conditions, a QSO would be eliminated while using SEARCH AND REPLACE with the NOTEPAD FOR EACH CALLSIGN option was selected. Improved dBASE import to Log-EQF format; recognizes more fields than before. V9.10 November 15, 1999 ------------------------ Improve COUNTY HUNTER award routine so that it can better detect like-named counties in different states. Improve IOTA award routine so automatic update better recognizes higher status of QSL STATUS for updating. Changed the way PRIOR QSOs are displayed. First prior QSO is displayed in detailed format, as before. Successive QSOs switch to one-line format, to be able to display up to five prior QSOs at a time. Changed logic for the VIEW IN DETAIL (or print in detail) format, so that if the TRACK field is named GERATOL, the geratol number will be shown (not the GRID). Save buffer used for cut-and-paste operations between sessions, so you don't have to retype a commonly-used item. Add a new OPERATOR PREFERENCE item to the SETUP menu, so that you can inhibit the automatic lookup and display of country info when a callsign is entered. With this option selected, you can obtain the country info by hitting while logging or editing. Fix some problems with LAST DX SPOT display during and after working another spot. Eliminate some prompts for "CORRECT COUNTRY (Y/N)?" for cases where the only other choice would be a deleted country. Further prevent some extraneous date & time entries in log when is used before a callsign is entered. More work to prevent spurious switches to opposite VFO frequency and mode for the KENWOOD rig interface. On all awards, when logbook, path, band, or mode is changed, return to the award menu instead of to the setup menu. Add creation of "mode" settings for COM ports automatically into LOG.BAT file during SETUP. There is a call to an additional batch file called MODESET.BAT, which handles the COM port settings. MODESET.BAT is created and modified each time you change rig, TNC, rotator, or keyer settings. You must go through the setup for CALLSIGN DATABASE once to update your LOG.BAT to include this new logic. Fixed problem with QRZ! CD lookup for some callsigns. Fixed problem where OPERATOR was not being stored into the logbook. Fixed logic for QSO TIME entry after edit operation. Fixed problems where QSL SENT wouldn't be updated on screen always. Some work to improve the "inch" frequency function. V9.04 July 18, 1999 -------------------- Changed search for CQ ZONE so that search for "1", for example, returns only matches for zone 1, not 10, 11, 12, etc. Delay access to I/O for rig & TNC until program reaches past the opening menus. Change display of LOCAL TIME to be LOCAL STANDARD TIME, since local daylight savings time zones are not calculated in Log-EQF. Correct problems with SEARCH & REPLACE for DATE & TIME. Worked on logic for NOTEPADS - should be no difference in operation, however. This will solve problems where successive entries in log for someone on state or county lines would have been seen as duplicates. Sorted file COUNTIES.LIB to put STATE/COUNTY entries in proper alphabetical order. If you have an existing counties record file that is NOT rebuildable from a logbook, type the following from DOS: COPY COUNTY.REC COUNTY.BAK SORT COUNTY.BAK >COUNTY.REC This will put your existing county records in the same order as the new county library, and make sure no counties are missed. Expanded TABULAR ASCII import/export to include new V9 logbook fields. V9.02 June 16, 1999 -------------------- Prevent record number of zero in lookup of portable callsign for DX calls.
